Purpose of TC Processing
Most animal cells need to be attached to a solid interface in order to grow. Cells can only adhere to a hydrophilic solid-phase interface.
The earliest cell culture vessels were made of glass. Because the surface of glass is hydrophilic, ordinary cells can attach and grow without special treatment.
Polystyrene has good light transmittance, good strength and plasticity, and has no toxicity, and has become the preferred material for disposable cell culture consumables such as disposable cell culture dishes and cell culture plates (general magnetic tapes and CD boxes are also made of polystyrene). made of styrene). However, the surface of polystyrene is hydrophobic, so it needs to be modified to become hydrophilic before it is suitable for cell culture.
