Little Knowledge About Petri Dishes

Petri Dish For Cell Culture is a laboratory vessel used for microbial or cell culture. Laboratory Petri Dish can be roughly divided into two parts, one is a flat disc-shaped bottom and the other is a lid. The bottom of the dish is smaller and the lid of the dish is larger. Generally, the bottom of the dish is used as culture experimental consumables.

Cell Culture Petri Dish are divided into two categories in terms of material, one is Plastic Petri Dishes and the other is glass petri dishes.

Glass can be used for experiments such as plant material, microbial culture and adherent culture of animal cells. Glass petri dishes can be used multiple times. However, glass petri dishes must go through four processes before they can be put into normal use.

①Soak. The used glass petri dish is first soaked in water to soften and dissolve the microorganisms attached to the surface of the petri dish.

②Brush. Polypropylene Petri Dishes that has been soaked for a long time needs to be placed in the detergent and repeatedly brushed with a softer brush without leaving dead corners. It should be noted that the brush cannot scratch the petri dish and affect the surface finish. Finally, the cleaned petri dish was dried.

③ Pickling. Put the dried petri dish into the acid solution, and remove the residual material on the surface of the petri dish through the strong oxidation of the acid solution. Pickling is generally not less than 6 hours. Note: Handle with care.

④ Rinse. Repeatedly scrub the acid-soaked petri dish. Each utensil should be "filled with water-emptied" repeatedly for at least 15 times, and finally soaked in distilled water and washed 2-3 times, dried or dried for later use.

The raw material of Plastic Petri Dishes is generally polyethylene. It is suitable for laboratory inoculation, streaking, and bacterial isolation, and can be used for the cultivation of plant materials. Plastic petri dishes are single-use. Relatively save a lot of time, energy and money.
