When to use filter tips?
Filter pipette tips must be used in all contamination-sensitive molecular biology applications. Filter tips help reduce the possibility of smoke formation and prevent aerosol contamination, thereby protecting the pipette shaft from cross-contamination. In addition, the filter barrier prevents sample carry-over from the pipette, preventing PCR contamination.
The filter tips also prevent the sample from entering the inside of the pipette during pipetting and damage the pipette.
Why must filter tips be used to detect viruses?
The virus is contagious. If the filter tip is not used to isolate the virus in the sample during the virus detection process, the virus will be transmitted through the pipette;Depending on the test samples, filter tips can be cross-contaminated with tissue samples during pipetting.
