Using a non-contaminated pipette can ensure accuracy, so you must ensure that the pipette is clean before and after each use.
Tips for using correct pipetting
Moving smoothly and slowly
Pre-rinse 3-5 tips before forward pipetting
Keep the pipette vertical when aspirating
Slowly immerse the tip into the appropriate depth below the liquid surface to aspirate the liquid
Wait a moment
Discharge at an angle of 30 – 45°
When discharging liquid, try to put the suction head against the inner wall of the container as much as possible.
According to the volume of pipetting required in the work, choose a pipette with a nominal capacity close to the pipetting volume as much as possible.
The closer the pipetting volume is to the nominal capacity of the pipette, the higher the accuracy of the test results.
Use matching pipette tips
Choose pipette tips that are perfectly matched and sealed to obtain accurate, repeatable results.
Adjust according to the environment
It is recommended to adjust the pipette and all test equipment to the new environmental conditions. Using this method can reduce the environmental variables that affect the results.
Use stand storage
Make sure that the pipette is placed vertically to avoid contamination, and the location of the pipette can be easily found.
Use within the measuring range
If the adjustment volume exceeds the range of the pipette, the pipette will be damaged. If you accidentally over-adjust the pipette volume, check whether the pipette needs to be recalibrated.
Clean and disinfect the pipette before use
Simply wipe the exterior (especially the lower part) with 70% ethanol.
Calibrate every 6 to 12 months
Depending on the frequency of use and laboratory requirements, pipettes should be calibrated at least every 6 to 12 months. Check the manufacturer`s guidelines or audit requirements to develop a corresponding maintenance plan and ensure that all personnel in the laboratory are notified.
